Global Attractors: Topology and Finite-Dimensional Dynamics

چکیده

Many a dissipative evolution equation possesses a global attractor A with finite Hausdorff dimension d. In this paper it is shown there is an embedding X of A into IR , with N = [2d+2], such that X is the global attractor of some finite-dimensional system on IR with trivial dynamics on X. This allows the construction of a discrete dynamical system on IR which reproduces the dynamics of the time T map on A, and has an attractor within an arbitrarily small neighbourhood of X. If the Hausdorff dimension is replaced by the fractal dimension, a similar construction can be shown to hold good even if one restricts to orthogonal projections rather than arbitrary embeddings.

Global Attractors for Nonlinear Beam Equations

This paper is concerned with the dynamics for nonlinear one-dimensional beam equations. We consider a nonlinear beam equation with viscosity or with a lower order damping term instead of the viscosity, and we establish the existence of global attractors for both systems. Isogeometric Topology Optimization of Continuum Structures using an Evolutionary Algorithm

Topology optimization has been an interesting area of research in recent years.  The main focus of this paper is to use an evolutionary swarm intelligence algorithm to perform Isogeometric Topology optimization of continuum structures.  A two-dimensional plate is analyzed statically and the nodal displacements are calculated.  The nodal displacements using Isogeometric analysis are found to be ...

We study the global attractors of abstract semilinear parabolic equations and their projections to finite-dimensional planes. It is well-known that the attractor can be embedded into the finite-dimensional inertial manifold if the so-called spectral gap condition is satisfied. We show that in the case when the spectral gap condition is violated, it is possible to construct the nonlinearity in s...

Global Finite Time Synchronization of Two Nonlinear Chaotic Gyros Using High Order Sliding Mode Control

In this paper, under the existence of system uncertainties, external disturbances, and input nonlinearity, global finite time synchronization between two identical attractors which belong to a class of second-order chaotic nonlinear gyros are achieved by considering a method of continuous smooth second-order sliding mode control (HOAMSC). It is proved that the proposed controller is robust to m...

DAMAGE IDENTIFICATION BY USING MODAL EXPANSION AND TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION IN THREE DIMENSIONAL ELASTICITY PROBLEMS

In this paper, topology optimization is utilized for damage detection in three dimensional elasticity problems. In addition, two mode expansion techniques are used to derive unknown modal data from measured data identified by installed sensors. Damages in the model are assumed as reduction of mass and stiffness in the discretized finite elements. The Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (...
